Born and raised in sunny Southern California, this twenty three year old takes to the
artistic Californian ways of self expression, only he takes it a step further. At a young age,
Clayton was born to have a microphone in his hand, even though he is a shy one.
"Something changes when I have that microphone in my hand," Clayton states, "It is
like a barrier between me and the audience."
When Clayton was 15 years old, he joined an
after school program to introduce him to
the broadcast industry. After just a few short weeks, the radio station in which provided the
program offered him a part time position as weekend radio personality. "It truly was
a dream
come true," Clayton states. |

"It wasn't soon before long that the station's program director was asking me to fill in during the weekdays and weeknights while I was still in high school." And quickly did
Clayton's career ever change. Six months after starting as the part time weekend personality, he was promoted to Weeknight (PM Drive) personality on the hybrid HOT AC
and CHR (Top 40) radio station. "If you could only imagine what was running through my mind," Clayton begins to explain, "A young 16--17 year old was becoming
something faster than he had ever hoped. You only see these kind of things happen in movies. You never really think that it will happen to you."
After just 10 months in the new role of afternoon/evening personality and production manager, he was again promoted to take on the programming aspect of the station.
In October 2007, Clayton was given his programming stripes and became the stations Assistant Program Director, overseeing music and on air productions. "Again, it
was a moment I thought would be much further down the road than at age 18," Clayton continues, "There is nothing more powerful in the industry than being the person
that decides what people are going to listen to, what people will decide they like. You have the power to make the station truly represent you and everything you are."
In 2009, after bringing the stations ratings to it's highest position in several years, he decided to try new ventures and leave the radio industry, maybe just for the time
being. "There is a point where you are no longer in love with something, I wasn't in love with myself anymore and needed to find a way to define myself. So I hung up
that portion of my life. I was young, I needed to see what else was out there waiting for me," he states. That March aired the final episode of DJ Clay Weeknights and
he left to try life out in one of the few cities that never sleeps, Las Vegas.
"I entered in the hospitality industry, with the sense that although there isn't a microphone infront of my face, this industry is exactly like radio. I am putting on show, face
to
face." Clayton entered with the Hilton Worldwide Corporation that March but promptly left that company that July to relocate back to Southern California and joined with
Marriott
International in Palm Desert. Today, Clayton manages and supervises the front office of the largest Marriott Resort in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area and the
largest resort in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert
area.
Besides his work and professional background, Clayton describes himself as a hopeful, thinker. "I find myself thinking about things far too much, to the point where people
literally tell me to stop thinking." he explaines. "I would label myself as confused (about life), depressed, hilarious -- maybe just original. I'm original." In his spare time, you
will rarely find him partying or clubbing (wait, he's a DJ!?!?!), but more or less surrounding himself with his best friend in the world Oscar, his dachshund, and maybe a friend
or two enjoying a night in with drinks and a movie. Part of his originality leads him to a passion for photography. "It doesn't have to be beautiful to be beautiful or
meaningful. I'll decide that, you can take it or leave it," he exclaims. His photography ranges from outdoor landscapes to candid human nature. "Honestly, the most
beautiful thing in this world is human behavior, to think about how each moment can be described completely on its own. It is too bad that the English language can
sometimes limit us to a few words, but a picture captures the neverending and the undescribable."
In the future, Clayton plans to eventually write and publish stories about his life and experiences. "If not to entertain people, then to remind people to live life at it's
fullest. You never know if you'll have a tomorrow."
Currently, Clayton resides with his dog Oscar in La Quinta, California at PGA West. He is single, in hopes of one day meeting Emma Roberts to live happily ever after.
